anyone had any problems clutching up the bike in 2nd or third?
got -1 +2, a-tre and a throttle insert.
no matter how hard i try i cant get the beast up without doing some massive burnouts.. just checked the tire and it was made in 2010 michelin power 2ct lots of rubber left on em..
Think its just me not being able to handle the throttle or might the tires be shot?
tried anywhere from 3k-7k rpm but seems that either i give it too much and it just goes wide or it doesnt get enuff kinda like i cant get that sweetspot inbetween that i was used to on the zx6r i had
Cheers

If its spinning when you clutch it, try on concrete and not asphalt. Also, try rolling into the throttle first before clutching it. Ie: don't let off the throttle then squeze the clutch, rev it up and dump. if its stock height swb you should be able to clutch it anywhere in 2nd really, but your bike makes the most torque between 7-9k. If you roll into the throttle first then clutch it, it will come up. QUICK

You have a first Gen?

I've watched a million YouTube vids and I still struggle on my 3rd Gen. I think I'm not grabbing my sac and giving it enough juice??? But most folk say "be in the power band." What ever that is for your bike. I'm guessing more like 6-9k rpms??? For a power wheelie. And with the clutch I've heard throttle the bike like norm and clutch it at the same time. This guy has a good vid. Check it.

He also has a 2nd gear vid. This one is 1st gear wheelies. He is on a 600 tho. So you would think ours would be cake? Here is another one with 1000cc bike.

Good luck!!!

ive got no problem pulling wheelies with no clutch in gears 1 2 and 3. i can lift it up with power in 4th and 5th but cant get it up high enough/am going too fast for me not to be scared trying it in the first place! if i can power the bike up, you should be able to clutch it up. we have same mods. not that it should matter much.

I have to short shift 1-3 at about 10,500 cause the front end comes up at about 7000. It hangs about a foot off of the ground. when it hits 10,500 it lifts further. So i shift to the next gear with the clutch(no clutch and it lifts further). It does this in 1-3. When I shift into 4th at about 120, the front pops back off of the ground. it will hold it there for a while but won't lift further. I am not a big person so I am sure that helps. But I have never once had to use the clutch on my bike to lift the front.

there is no problem doing power wheelies at all but where is the fun in that, and yes bgmagma i have been trying to roll on while popping the clutch aswell but the rear just starts spinning, sure its all good and fun but not when i want to get teh front up.. think i might have to just get some new rubber, was thinking michelin power one, anyone tried em? well that or something just as sticky since the old 2ct that i have just dont cut it :) btw its stock height and swb, not tried concrete but then again i would like to be able to get it up on normal roads..

Let some air out the tire and sit further back on the seat...

GEN III; I can only wheelie 1st gear, sometimes 2nd...

I can wheelie my buddies 07 CBR1000 and my other friends 06 GSXR1000, easier than my own bike...

My buddy who rides an 04 636 can wheelie my bike in 2nd no problem...

dropped the rear tire down to about 32 psi and still had the same problems, still thinking i just have to get some real sticky rubber on it since i dont want to power it up, clutching it up is what im used to and usualy i get longer and more controlled wheelies that way, i do power em up every now and then but its allways nice to be able to get the front end up quick when your on a short strech and whatnot

might add that i did not have any problems before i went -1 +2 when it came to traction, well i would get that odd burnout every once and a while untill i got the tire all warmed up (takes ages it seems)

ive clutched every gen in 1,st 2nd, and 3rd with no issues on stock gearing. If you are spinning either your suspension may be set off, your form is off, or you are giving it too much clutch. Its you not the bike though.

I'm lowered 2" in the rear and I power up in 2nd no problem I am also 16/41

What is the temperature outside? If the roads are below 45 degrees its gonna be hard to wheelie unless you are keeping your tires warm (unlikley) if ur riding in 50 degree weather.

That would be my first guess to something that makes no sense.

I ride differently, different stance on bike, so...I got nothing.

For me it is power wheelies, just a common event. Get on the gas to make a pass,
Road with rise and fall in it (like frost heaves) = front wheel in the air.

Nice to hear from Norway :eek:ccasion1

cold streets deinitely help the tires spin, alot!
I'm -1+3, and I've got to work real hard to keep the front end down...I can clutch it up in 1st-3rd no prob whatsoever....
Not impying rudeness, but it's definitely you and not the bike.

Sit further back, and just try different combos of clutch out speed and throttle control, first is a lil violent but between 45-60is, the bike should come up fast but smooth...

Good luck with it and let us know how you work out the issues...

Beautiful bike BTW from your avatar pic!!! Green/green is my favorite color combo ever!!!

One other thing remember its "slipping" the clutch. Try not to just dump all hell out of the clutch lever, its being a little too violent and snapping ur rear end loose. Just try coming off it a little more gently, swiftly release it vs. dumping it

I have the same setup -1+2 and the original tire from the factory in 05 that is about to get changed. Bought the bike with low miles last year all original. Tire is almost balled know and will spin 1,2,3 at 6500 rpms. All I do is clutch wheelies. Clutch it at 4500 rpms in 3rd. Just before the power band starts at 5500 rpms to 6000. So when you release the clutch you are just in the low part of the power band. 6500 rpms or less. Should pop right up with no wheel spin. 3rd is way smoother than 2nd. 2nd can be a little radical and twitchy. Lower rpms and she won't spin as bad. My tire is shoot and will always spin in 2nd. So i us 3rd. Hope this helps. Take your time and Practice.
