If I buy the 16T OEM Z1000 front, and want to go +2 in the back, is there an OEM sprocket I can buy?

I did a search and can't find anyone who asked this...

Also...what's the estimated change in MPG if I do this?

That depends on what year you have. If it is an 04-05 (39 tooth) then the 41tooth sprocket off the 08 will work and be the +2 your looking for. I sold the one off my 08 to another member already.

MPG? I couldn't tell you as that is just not a concern of mine to ever research.

04-05 39 tooth stock rear

06-07 40 tooth stock rear

08 41 tooth stock rear.

The stock 08 is anodized BLACK and looks really nice and although heavier than aftermarket alloy, they are much stronger and lasts forever. I can understand the desire to use a stock sprocket where others might not.

-1 in the front equates to about +3 in the back. So if you have a 06 and you go to a 16 / 41 from a 17/40, thats like adding 4 to the back.

-1 =1 same lenght chain will work. i can understand wanting to use the oem Z1000 front since it has the cushion to keep in quiet, but that noise doesnt really bug me, and you could save a ton of money buying aftermarket. another up side is getting some of the neater looking sprockets. even more you could lighten up to a high quality 520

I have a 16t Renthal on my 05 and maybe I got lucky but it doesnt make much noise, if any at all.
