it depends on whether or not you think you life is worth 140-160 bucks...that's about how much a rear tire is gonna cost...I would just get another rear

The pic is pretty hard to see... but it looks like it's not deeper than the tread, so you're most likely alright.

I wouldn't ride on it... but i'm pretty picky about my tires.

It looks like the cut runs pretty straight front-rear, but I cannot see how deep it is at the tread groove.

If it is NOT that deep, if it were me and I lived in Florida, and rode "mildly" where I'd never use that portion of the tire, I wouldn't have a problem running it, inspecting it frequently for any sign of change.

If I were riding spirited around the tail of the dragon, canyon carving, or track days, I'd immediately scrap it, period. You're not going to get that tire to pass inspection at a track day, and for good reason.

But....all that said....you life, health, and well being is worth far more than what ever you'd pay for a top of the line rear tire. If it is questionable in your mind, that probably is reason to replace it.

thanks for the replys, if i had more miles on the tire i would ditch it but i only hae 200 miles on these, im pretty pissed that it happened and i ride at high speeds its not that deep maybe 1/16 of an inch, its not as deep as the tread is

Sounds like your trying to convince yourself that it will be ok, and it might be. On the other shoe it could cause a blowout merging in traffic/hard cornering and that 1/16" slice could cost you more than you could ever imagine. It's all about risk assesment my friend. Hope you have good fortune either way my fellow rider and just remember to check it if you keep it.

Burn that sucker down and replace. Aint worth a slide on the hide for 200 bucks.
JMTC
Just get a good video of the burnout

im pretty ocd about my tires..i agree with the other ones who say just replace it because the price is worth it when your talking about your life..

if you decide to ride on just inspect it when you can and be safe..

Like some others have said, if it's no deeper than the tread, it's fine. If it's down to the cords, it's definitely not. If it's in between, it's a judgment call. Personally, I'd ride it if it wasn't down to the cords and just keep an eye on it.

This is true but keep in mind that what you ran over could have had a jagged edge and the depth of the cut could be deeper than the tread in spots on either side of the tread. Since the cut is parrallel with the cords, me personally I wouldn't trust it. Remeber high speeds put a ton of stress on the tires.

While it would not bother me or stop me from riding it, it is totally up to you and what makes you comfortable.
