I was taking off the brake side bolt to mount my new Champs frame slider when I noticed a little too late I was using a 7/32 allen and not the metric size. Anyways, I stripped it and now its almost completely rounded. Can someone give me some advice to get it off. Should I try vice grips, torque bit, etc. I am at work right now but all I can think about is that stupid bolt and how I wasnt paying attention to the correct size. Its definitely a learning experience that wont happen again.

if its the one attached to the delrin spacer, you can probably just clamp some vise grips on the bolt and wrench it off. I'm just thinking off the top of my head, on how I would do it on my Gen 1 ZX10R. If it's an 06-07 slider set up it may be different. Good luck!

i would try finding a torx bit that is lil bigger then the hole for the allen key and tap it in the head of the bolt with a hammer then try and turn it out real slow... i've used this trick alot of times and it not failed once....good luck

Give the bolt a "good" whack on the head with a big hammer and a soft drift (ally or brass)you cant slip off with then tap the correct allen key in try this a few times and you will probably just unscrew it.

DO NOT USE AND EASYOUT

Dear god no!

If you break an easy out in that bolt your done. They break like 75% of the time and that shits hardened! You WILL NOT be able to drill through an easyout. No way Jose. Then you are really screwed.

If i am thinking of the one that you are, then here are your options:

1) Vise Grips: Get them on TIGHT. Spray with some penetrating oil first, let it sit then get those vice grips so tight you can barely close them. Work the bolt tight and loose...both directions. Sometimes you have to slightly tighten it to break the oxidation or thread lock.

2) Hammer a larger hex/torx bit like was said AND if you can use the vise grips too.

3) Alden-X Out or a left handed drill bit. You do not want an EASYOUT!!!

I would buy both and opt for the left handed drill bit first. Often with the left handed drill bit, simply drilling into the screw counterclockwise will remove it.

Good god i can't believe you guys recommended easyouts!:headshake

This should be made into a STICKY!!!!

Thanks for all the advice. I was about to get some drill-out bits the other day but on my way home I decided to try the vice grip method. Well I got the vice grip on and it was on there real tight. I then crossed my fingers and would you believe it, the bolt turned with ease. I did make a superficial scratch on the fairing piece but when I put the slider on, it covered the scratch. It was crazy how easy it was. Its like when you try to take the top off a jar and give it to someone else and they barely turn it and it pops off.
