Do you have to use some kind of special anyifreeze in a zx-10 or can you use the same stuff that you put in cars? I lost my manual and don;t trust the dealer.

It is the same stuff. There isn't a special "Prestone" for motorcycles. Just ensure you mix it properly (50/50 is the ratio). I also mix it with distilled water but I honestly don't know how much that helps over using garden hose water or kitchen sink water. If I remember correctly, there is even some (but very few) antifreeze/coolants out there that are already pre-mixed. So, read the label so you don't end up deluting already mixed antifreeze/coolant.

Even WaterWetter which a lot of people associate with motorcycles only talk about it being used in cars on the label.

The antifreeze has to be aluminum-compatible, and is supposed to be silicate / phosphate free. The first requirement is easy to determine. The second is not.

I've had other bikes in the past get lime deposits in the cooling system. I flushed out the stock stuff and switched it over to 50% mixture of distilled water and Volkswagen G12 coolant, which experience has shown will not give lime deposits and will last for years (unlike Dexcool ...). One minor catch is that G12 is absolutely not compatible with the standard green coolants; you have to flush the system out entirely before switching to a different coolant and must not top it up with anything else. For me it's not a problem; the car came with G12 so that's what I keep in my shop.

The Prestone "all makes, all colours" coolant might be suitable, if it lives up to its manufacturer's claims. I have not used it. I know G12 works, so that's what I use.

Engine ice is not antifreeze ... correct? If it is what I think it is, it's a different manufacturer's version of Redline Water Wetter, which I use in my track bike.

here's what they advertize "run 10 degrees cooler" here's the fact
I have noticed it runs the same however when hot and then your in motion it drops like a brick shithouse. however there is a down side it heats fast too. the bike can heat up faster. when your in traffic however once in motion you will cool REAL! fast and you will run a little cooler. in the end i do like it! not love it but yes ilike it over antifreez

Engine Ice is antifreeze also. I tried it last year, and was not impressed. At least not enough to warrant the much higher price over regular coolant. I switched back to water and water wetter for my last couple of trackdays.

Engine Ice is propylene glycol based anti-freeze the same as the "pet safe" anti-freeze you sometimes find in auto parts places. Propylene glycol actually transfer heat less efficiently than ethelyne glycol. Engine Ice is supposed to also contain a surficant like Water Wetter as well.

I've been thinking about the anti-freeze thing since it is coming up on a year since I got the bike and I plan to flush and replace the factory fill. Most of the big brands out there seem to be Dexcool or Dexcool clones including the new green Prestone chit. After looking at the discussion over at BoB is the Oil Guy I am going to use the Zerex G-05.

I just get the Honda antifreeze from the dealer already comes pre-mixed and its not that expensive pop the top, pour, replace top, Ride, don't get any easier than that.

I tried all last year...engine ice, water wetter, and even threw in a Muzzy fan, and ever since I switched from the stock coolant the bike runs hot...like hits the warning temp indicator..never did that before with stock coolant.:dontknow:...and yes I did check for air bubbles.

So, for me going to my local Kawi dealer before spring and will replace my water wetter with stock coolant. I will report back if that helped to get me back to normal when I first bought the bike which never hit the warning temps in extreme temps. :badteeth:
