I have a buddy with a 2003 ZX636R and he needs to replace crank, rod and piston.

I am parting out a 2005 ZX600RR motor, and here is what we want to do.

Combine the upper and lower case of the 600RR with the head of the ZX636.

Note the difference in years here.

What do y'all think...is it possible?

the rr head has much better porting from the factory, as well as a higher lift cam shaft on the intake side. if he is running the 599 rr motor i would not install the 6r head on it, if its even possible. what he could do is install the exhaust cam off an 05-06 636 on the 599rr motor for a boost in performance and have them degreed in, or use the trans off the rr motor and replace his bad rotating assembly and install an 05-06 636 head and cams on it.
