728 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  tommyboymacho
After breaking in my bike I dropped the can and install the two brothers shorty on the bottom a power commander was installed and I noticed that I started getting short backfires after build up while riding is there any way to prevent this from happening other than manually I did have the bike tuned and it still does it. What are block off plates??????

You're getting after firing, not back firing. Back firing happens when the combustion flame propagates BACK through the carburetor or throttle body. Popping out the exhaust is an after fire.

You need block off plates. Google them. Or search here for countless threads on the topic. They block the fresh air injection ports on the valve cover that's allowing the unburned fuel to ignite in the header.
Are they easy to install

Depends. A 12 year old probably wouldn't think so. But an ASE certified mechanic would find it easy.
Ok well I do all my own work so I'll probably be able to do it. Thanks I will.look into it
