Hi i have a friend who uses a 2014 zx 10 for racing Irish roads, after every race approx 25 miles chain becomes very slack something is going on but its not giving up easily he has changed the chain and sprockets twice using top of the range DID and Renthall sprockets but after each race the chain is very slack and the last time there was damage to the sprocket. He is using a 520 x ring chain and I have suggested going to 525 but as he says almost everyone else is using 520 without any problems. I think there may be a problem with the cush drive, has anyone had anything similar to these problems if so what was the answer.

If the chain is too tight it will at some time damage or prematurely wear the drive shaft bearing a complete failure of that is something you don't want

for the range in suspension travel, his chain may be too tight, and stretching throughout every bump
Agreed, check the slack while the bike is on the side stand.
Make sure the adjusters equally adjusted and are tightened before tightening the axle nut.

(use a tape measure to be sure)

Put the bike on a paddock stand and check if everything is aligned.

Check slack again and test it.
