Manual tensioner on mine. It’s only really audible from the left side, and using the mechanics stethoscope really seems to be injectors, I just find it strange because it got suddenly louder today and hasn’t been this prominent before.Sounds normal. Injectors click. I heard a click like that and I traced it down to the chain tensioner spring being slack.
Replace ur cam chain tensioner, don't be cheap, if it fails can bend valvesHave you run it lately? Does it have old gas? Maybe a cheap fix would be to run some injector cleaner through it first to see if it goes away? Then you can always dig deeper if it gets worse or doesn't go away. I like Sea-foam for cleaning out my tank. I had a diesel truck that was getting clicking noises from the injectors. Clicking is a huge part of what makes a diesel sound the way it does. However, it was built to use diesel with sulfur in it. That makes a great lubricant for injectors. Now with low sulfur diesel its like they are running dry with no oil. Going to fail. So I put a few ounces of 2 stroke oil in 25 gallons of fuel and it seems to calm down the clicking. I wouldn't suggest doing that with your bike. But if it was me I would try a cap full maybe 2 in a tank full or some Lucas oil to see if it smooths out the click? I don't know what it will do if anything good or bad with our bikes. So a small amount would be my starting point. If I ever try it I will report back on if it worked or if the bike died for no reason and I can't figure out why.
On the chain tensioner thing. I was going to go the manual route. But when I pulled off the stock piece I noticed that the spring that was suppose to add tension was completely colapsed with no spring left in it. I stretched it back out with 2 needle noised plyers about an inch and reused it. It added tension to the rachet thing and the clicking stopped almost immediately after starting it. I made a before and after video of it. I was going to share it but didn't know how at the time then just forgot after a while. So I saved $80 and didn't get the manual tensioner.
It has an APE manual. sound is definitely only on the left side though and isolated to injectorsReplace ur cam chain tensioner, don't be cheap, if it fails can bend valves
I’ve run A little Techron though it and it seems like it’s quieted down some. The bike has been sitting For 5 months so perhaps youre right and it is just some sticky or dirty and dry injectors.Have you run it lately? Does it have old gas?
