I'm under the impression that Haga is going to have a hell of a year after coming in second last year. But you definitely can't count out Biaggi and Bayliss on those oversized Ducati's. I'm also waiting to see what Laconi and Tamada can do on the Kawi. :dontknow:

Laconi is our man, I think he is the only one on a Kawi that can run fast.

i think JT is great WSB rider...will he be so in MotoGp...who knows....but he definitely got more out of the Honda then anyone else was capable of....lots of Honda's on the WSB circuit but only he was consistenly on the podium and thats on a factory supported team like many others...it was covered freq last season the troubles the Ten Kate team was having with the factory TC and went back and forth with an aftermarket brand.....Will the Ten Kate team enjoy the success (double championship) this year...i doubt it...is that because JT will not be there...again who knows...however they end i'm sure it would be better with JT then without....this season is already been awarded to the Duc from the sounds of it.....i don't understand how bayliss could have 7 wins last season and everyone say that the duc is at a disadvantage and needed an extra 100-200cc of displacement...damn i'm looking forward to the races starting..

i don't :headshake. the honda had it over the other bikes so i attribute the success in this area as oppsed to JT. Bayliss is by far been the superior rider in WSBK for yrs now but unfortunately for him the Duc was down on HP and could not keep up despite his efforts to push that bike into places only he could.
Hagasan makes a huge run at the title only to come up 2pts shy so no i don't believe JT is all that.

not taking anything from Haga...always been a big fan but the last few races of the 07 season saw JT lose the front in one race and run completely off the track at the beginning of another race by another rider costing him valueable points...that combined with some very cautious riding on the final race of the season kept the points as close as they were...if he would have won it running away then your best equipment argument might hold up...but the fact the championship ended so closely contested speaks more for JT's talent....as for bayliss being on inferior equipment...i don't buy it...he had 7 race wins in 07 second only to JT's 8 race wins...yes he is a great rider but the duc was not the slouch the pr dept was trying to make it..

also..didn't Xaus have a win...so that makes 8 races won by the duc last year...if we are going on performance then the Kaw should be the one allowed the extra 100-200cc displacement..

 True.

I like Bayless alot especially after being forced to sit out the race after he lost his pinkie. (The stones on that guy).

Besides him though I'll be cheering for anyone to beat those cheating Ducatis. 2008 is going to be the return of the Duck Cup me thinks. :headshake

actually it was JT that hit another rider causing him to run off track but no matter Haga was way behind in points at the middle of the season and he made a huge charge to the front.

Well TB's efforts is what made the Duc what it was plain and simple because he was on inferior equip from a HP standpoint and it was quite obvious so fortunately for JT he had the HP advantage along with a good rider combo.

Biaggi will be a hot contender this year, if he can keep it together.

The whole Ducati thing is about the spec of the engine.

The inline fours have limited mods they can do so the engine is fairly low spec.

The Ducatis have been running highly modified engines to be able to keep up. The problem was the amount of engines required due to limited mileage before rebuilds. The way I understand the rules, is they are limited to the same limited mods the inline fours now have, hence the need to increase the capacity, to equal the field.

I'm not advocating it either way, all I'm saying is they are trying to cut the costs and get more mileage out of their engines.

So, yes they have more displacement BUT they are limited to how much they can do.

Yes, they'll have a torque advantage again but they may not have huge horsepower due to limits as to how high a twin can rev...

I'm just throwing it out there, discuss as you wish. And as I said, that's my understanding of it all.

how can a rider with 8 race wins be equated to superior equipment and another rider with 7 race wins be equated to superior riding skills...:dontknow:

I think he may be right. An Aussie sweep, Stoner, Bayliss/Corser and Mladin all have a good preseason chance to win. I'm still cheering for Hopper and Hayden in GP, Haga in WSBK and Hayden/Hacking in the AMA.
