It just dawned on me, I live down the street from the man that owns and makes these fairings. When I was in Sebastian Florida I went over to see him and from that point we came up with a deal for discounted race fairings for the members of the TCRIDERS forum I started and ran until I moved to Maryland. I mean in Florida, with three Tracks easily accessible who wouldn't eventually wanna go to the track.. I am wondering if anyone on this site buys this brand..

I have had several sets most recently on my race SV650. Currently on my 4th Gen I am using the Attack plastics. But Sharkskinz are amazing. I don't think they were available (maybe in development?) when I bought my 4th Gen in May 11 so I went with the Attack set since my dealer got me a deal (15% off) on them through the racer program they have at the dealership.

You definitely get what you pay for but in my opinion they are worth every penny.

Just so you Know he often has gotten local riders to bring in their bikes when making the molds, that may have been one of the delays. That is how it went back in 2007-2008 when I lived by him and no it isn't a factory it was all done at his place.

I have used them on a ZX9. They fit up well were easy to install and crash really well. Don't ask me how I know that LOL

Now that is funny...but it happens :badteeth:
It's a true story... "crashing well"... I never liked that term I always considered it graciously loosing balance :)

That said, I did put my SV through a few dumps, mainly med and a few high speed low sides, sliding into the grass right off of the track. But they held up well. Pretty much would just see they weren't damaged, and just sprayed them down with another coat of the black rattle can special :D

:heyyou:Well maybe everyone here can put together an order as a site rather than individuals and get better deals. Its what he offered Me to offer the site users at TCRIDERS in Sebastian/Vero Beach, Ft Pierce FL. Damn those were some good times too.

IMO Sharkskinz makes the best track plastics. I just bought a set of the Hotbodies and they don't come close to Sharkskinz. They may cost more but it will be a no hassle, bolt on application. Since it is a mom and pop shop great customer service, when I called for race fairings for my 600 she yelled out the back and the guys put the molds together and I had my stuff 3 weeks later, well packaged with no damage.

Hey guys, new here but not new to racing or paint/ repair of motorcycles.

I've been painting/ repairing (mostly) race bikes for over 10 years here in Texas and Sharkskinz are definitely at the top of the heap. The quality of fiberglass weave they use plus the quality of their resin is top notch. Recently we sent our stock '13 ZX636R bodywork to them and the mold they made from those build all of the bodywork for that model that anyone buys from them. They are a good group of folks and have been in business for a LONG time.

Regarding Attack, they are likely the best stuff on the market for three reasons over Sharksinz- price, fit, and finish. Attack Performance bodywork is developed from AK Composites which sold their patents to Attack. The fit is always consistent, the price is usually a couple hundred less than Sharkskinz, and the finish is incredible; ready to paint. Sharkskinz also usually fit well but sometimes don't. To boot, they come caked with primer that takes a lot of prep work to get ready to seal then paint.

Sharkskinz has done a lot to improve those small issues, but the price is still higher.

The downside to Attack is that when they run out of stock, they're out for long periods of time. Bit of a headache sometimes.

I always recommend to my riders that if they're going to race consistently, get the Attack or Sharkskinz- there are no others as good by comparison. Armour, Catalyst, et al come close but their resins and fiberglass weaves are nowhere near the quality and they cost almost as much. Not to mention that both brands use an outer coating like a gel coat that chips and fractures easily unlike Attack and Sharkskinz that don't use them.

If they are just doing track days or the occasional race but not a full season, I advise them to buy the cheap Ebay bodywork, preferably from F1Composites. $300 shipped to your door and actually fit pretty well usually. Can't beat that and they're just as good if not some ways and sometimes better than Hotbodies and LP.

Hotbodies and LP are pure crap. They go from too stiff to way to flimsy, usually fit like crap, and are made with the cheapest of materials. Their prices definitely don't reflect the quality.

*phew* heckuva long first post... sorry 'bout that! Actually could've been longer as I have a ton of information collected on this subject over the years! lol
