I have a quick ? I nead rain tires....I was told that I could run a 180 on the back..Is this a bad idea???Will it fit on the rim, will it set the beed, and what about the profile change?

I have run 180's on my 04 with no problems.

Your not going to be running flat out anyway so no need to worry.

was just saying 600s and 1000s both use a 6 inch wide rims so the tire wouldn't matter as far as fit just your personal choice in profile
Pretty much every 600 (and 750) manufactured since 2000 has had a 5.5inch rear rim, that is why they get the 180/55 rear tire.

Good question.

Yes a 180 does fit and the bead will set easily. The profile is different and you will get to the edge of the tire with less lean angle. Just keep that in mind.

I've run 180's in the dry several times, but never in wet conditions. If you have an upright riding style, it might not be a good idea. Don't get throttle happy out of the corners either.
