Hello,

Just brought a 2012 zx10r with Ohlins 30mm carts and TTX rear, but the previous owner was somewhat lighter than me.

Therefore I need input to what springs are needed for a 250lb (113kg) rider?.

Call GMD comuptrack- the Atlanta branch. They are SUPER good to deal with. They set me up with a .975 split set of Ohlins springs. Something I really would not have thought of. I highly recommend them.

So they are now the go-to experts for you because they figured out that a 95 & 100 would make a 975 rate? :crackup:
They are the go to people for me yes. Figuring out what I need Im guessing anyone could do. Pulling the file of the previous bike owner and going over with me exactly what he had done to the rear shock and forks and what would be best suited for my weight and riding style all while having ZERO indication from me that I was going to spend a dime with them. That makes them the go to people for me, yes.

So who are your go to people? Surely you aren't the know-all, end-all supreme knowledge in motorcycle suspension?

Actually I'm delighted you have found a company you can trust. I merely found it amusing you held in high regard the simplest of mathematical calculations as consideration for your praise. It was not meant to be rude.

I am a suspension tech & test rider so I do all my own work with rare exception.


Baddie, If this is a streetbike I would probably go with a 10/10 in the front forks, but if it is a track bike I would opt for one rate higher in one fork 10/05

The rear is a lot more complicated on this bike when using the stock linkage due to the way it needs to so much rate to get the swingarm moving, but not as much once it is in motion. So having said that I would likely go with a 120 spring for street use or a 130 for track use. Unfortunately there are no half rates available in TTX size springs once you reach 120Nm

The final decision would rest in what you use the bike for and how hard you are really riding the bike, but remember that an undersprung bike is still usable to a large degree, but an oversprung bike quickly limits the capability in addition to making for a very rough ride.

First let me apologize to the OP for the slight thread jack. Im an expert at nothing but I am more than willing to try and help any member of this forum in any way I can no matter how simple it may seem to others. :eek:ccasion1 for helping the OP. Thats what its about here.

Front springs

I have a lot heaver springs in my race bike than in my street bike just to help it around corners. Unless you want to start cutting the headstock and rewelding
