ok i crashed my bike a while back and replaced the fairings but cant seem to find something to get the tail light to stick into place like it did originally the fairings are oem and everything is the else is the same i was wondering for all of you guys that replaced your fairings what did you do to get the tail section to stick properly also for the nose section (to the headlight) i have an 2005 Zx to give you guys a little idea on what im talking about
You need to check your metal tabs and brackets to make sure they are not bent or twisted. When I went down at the track, my subframe got twisted and the tabs. So I had to use a buddy's 10 for a reference point to correct the tabs and buy a used subframe.
the tabs aren't the problem its the adhesive i know there was something that the manufacture used to make it stay tight on the top and bottom of the light (for the tail) and I'm wondering if there was somewhere i could buy that glue or tape that they use.
I don't know about the bottom, but I think mine ('04) had some industrail strength velcro on the panel on top of the brakelight. Pick some up at your local lowe's or home depot. Hope this helps.
Yeah you're right. The stuff I used wasn't strong enough, so I had to get some higher grade velcro. Works OK for me now, but I didn't crash the bike - just got a new light.
honda bond will stick that thing on there for a long time dont know if you ever want it to come off but it would be hard to come off and clean up so only use it if you deffinatly want it stuck there autozone will have it
factory uses velcro, and make sure you have some kind of support if you remove the plate bracket without that the tabs for the tail light will brake off the tail section
I used 3M double sided automotive moulding tape. Been on for a year, no problem.
