You need to check your metal tabs and brackets to make sure they are not bent or twisted. When I went down at the track, my subframe got twisted and the tabs. So I had to use a buddy's 10 for a reference point to correct the tabs and buy a used subframe.

the tabs aren't the problem its the adhesive i know there was something that the manufacture used to make it stay tight on the top and bottom of the light (for the tail) and I'm wondering if there was somewhere i could buy that glue or tape that they use.

but thank you Joker

thanks cuz it seems like after you lay it down you can never get that snug fit like when you got it off the dealer floor

I don't know about the bottom, but I think mine ('04) had some industrail strength velcro on the panel on top of the brakelight. Pick some up at your local lowe's or home depot. Hope this helps.
Yeah you're right. The stuff I used wasn't strong enough, so I had to get some higher grade velcro. Works OK for me now, but I didn't crash the bike - just got a new light.

factory uses velcro, and make sure you have some kind of support if you remove the plate bracket without that the tabs for the tail light will brake off the tail section
