All Gen 1 owners need to inspect their frames for cracks in the welds.

There has been a lot more people reporting Gen 1 cracked frames...

Here is where to look for the cracks..

If you find some, stop riding it and report it to your local dealer.

Sorry for the crappy pics but one of my kids has the good camera

somewhere, so I used my phone.

weird mine always crack right down the middle of the welds
Yours may be like that from crashing.

Mine has to be stress related...

Cause it's like i said, After I looped it,

I double checked my frame and there were no cracks at all then.

And even up to last month, I looked when I was working on it.

Now I did replace my front wheel, forks, rad, air ram tube, stator cover

and what nots. I especially looked real good at the stem for any damage.

Had mine weld last week..
You can see 2 good picture here

After you had it welded, are you having it powder coated or what ??
And man am I kicking the shit outta myself.
When I got laid off, I sold my welder for needed money.
So, I'm gonna have to pay someone to do it if Kawi don't fix it.

I gotta ask. I know about this issue and all, but is this mostly just 04s? Or does this affect 05s as much, as well?

05 too.

I just paint mine.

If you paint one, be sure to mask off any areas a bolt sits or the face of the subframe mounts. The fasteners will loosen off because the paint will flake after it's torqued. Same for the nuts on the swingarm pivot.

That's what I'm talking about right there.
Having never done a frame swap, I wouldn't have known that.
They need to include tips like that in the service manual.

Now I have visions of colors and painted frames lol.

If you use blue loc tite you don't have to tape anything off and the bolts are not going anywhere....

Trying to think if I want the frame black or a custom color... Hmmm

May say to hell with Kawi and do it myself so I can paint the frame..

Gonna see if my kid will photo shop my frame with different colors.
Maybe she isn't still mad at me for not letting her go out last weekend.

I can photoshop colors if you need it....also green frames don't look that good on a green bike, it looks HORRIBLE... I did the frame on my stretched 10 in green KINDA....I took the bare metal and took a scotch brite wheel and did a circular pattern then sprayed it with a green candy...It looked horrible....

Yeah, I had already decided that a green frame would be too much.

I wonder what gold would look like on it?

What has Kawasaki said about this problem?
Why isnt Kawasaki repairing the defective frames?
Is there a 'recall' on the effected bikes?
Has the 'National Transportation and Safety Administration' (NTSB) been notified?
If no, why not!? They have the power to force Kawasaki to 'Fix'it".
