Valve retainer question

Hey guys just had a few questions about valve retainers on the 04 zx10. I've heard a few people mention finding cracked retainers. My motor is stock with 18000 miles, the OEM head gasket, no race cams and although it sees redline on a ride by ride basis it's not constantly beaten like a track bike so i shouldn't have any issues but i want to check just for peace of mind as i'm going to be checking valve clearance anyway.
1. Does there seem to be any pattern to which cylinder has this problem or intake verses exhaust on each cylinder?
2. If i find a crack retainer, can i pressurize the cylinder to hold the valve in place and replace the retainer without having to pull the head off or does the head simply have to come off?
3. If not pulling the head is an option, where can i get the tool to compress the valve spring that will work without pulling the head off.

I look forward to educated input.

Thanks.

1. I havent seen or read of any patterns no, it seems to be very rare though
2. If you could find a way to do it Ide say why not, some have suggest a string idea too
3. My buddy used a modified craftsman tool to compress valves on his bike, seemed to work really well. As for an official tool Ide have to look for you :p
