Hi,
There was no review covering all the questions I was looking for when purchasing a high end racing pad, so decided to create one.
Bike : 2016 ZX10R with stock Brembo M50 Caliper and stock MS.
Original Brake Pads:
They had the mark HH stamped on them. Worked well even on track, not a single issue.
Original Brake Fluid:
It was milky, never changed it before. The bike had just 3000km on it and 3 track days lasting about 1 hour each. So moving forward will change the fluid if I notice any chance in clearness.
New Brake Pads:
Vesrah top of the line RJL-SS. See pic below for the whole catalog.
I wanted good initial bite and fade free pads.
Brake Fluid:
Liquid Moly Dot 4.0 Racing fluid. It was crystal clear.
So here is my observations based on the usual myths
Racing Pads cannot be used in street as they need heat to work properly.
Hmmm .. it worked fine on a cold morning. Just as good as stock.
I did very hard braking, no issues with brake grip.
However when they are up to temperature, the grip is super crazy.
Using my usual lever pressure, the ABS was kicking in. I had to lower my pressure to adjust.
Once I did, I loved the initial bite and how fast I can stop the bike.
My take is, they advice not to use racing pads on the street because it is simply too grippy.
It will be very dangerous on non ABS bikes.
Brake Pads need 50km to 150km to bed in properly
Really? The mechanic did the bedding in process in less than 1 km. It grips like hell.
He was doing some continuous hard braking which looking like a jerking movement.
So if it is done right, the bedding in process can be fast.
Will update more after my next track day on Aug 5th.
