Guys - Please help me out with this one. My lock (to lift the rear seat) won't work!!! Is there another way to get the seat off? How can I fix it if I can get to the mechanism?????

sounds like your bike came with a whole list of problems

What year anyway the 05 lock is mounted inside u can try a coat hanger slide in under the seat u need to pull the black cable to release.or take a hamer and screw driver and hit the lock till u bend it out of the way then u have a hole to get at the cable but i don,t know if that will work.if u have a seat cowel u can remove the rubber front and drill a large hole to get at the cable.think they all are the same pull end of cable 1/2 inch and they release

Push down on the seat while trying to unlock it. Mine sticks on my 05 sometimes.

Man mine is stuck too!!!

I installed a hot bodies undertail kit and it called for relocating the key cylinder which is connected to the lock release by a cable....well guess what at one point I noticed the cable came free of the lock release (when I had just taken the seat off...so i fixed it and put the seat back on.

But since then it seems it came loose (probably from riding vibrations), cause now I turn my key and it turns ok, but the lock release is not activated!!! I have no clue how to get under there and release it!!!

I can't get any tools at all under the seat and can't get the cable reconnected at aaaaaaaaaaaall!!! I'm hoping I don't have to mangle the seat and reorder a new one!!!

At some point I may have to get under the seat to do anything with the lights etc. Any tips?

I'm thinking of pulling as hard as I can on the rear of the seat and busting that plastic hook thing, then just bending the seat enough to get a tool in there to release the lock, then fixing the pastic hook at the rear again. My fear is that I may warp the seat!

Try shooting somw WD40 up in the lock hole...insert the key and push it in and out about 20 times fast...like you would to a girl...then hold the seat (or cowl) and wiggle and lift while your turn the key!

For the hotbodies undertail problem...if you only used the velcro to install the tail light, try pushing the tail light through and off to the side a bit so you can shine a flashlight up the rear and see the problem...

Awesome, I like that last one. I'll just pump on it until it feels right and then get very sleepy LOL
Now that I'm thinking about it more, I'm sure I'll get it open if I maneuver the seat enough.
For the record......this is my first ZX-10, but I've been track ridin' the past 6 years and on the street for 17. I'll actually contribute to the board (as opposed to just asking questions) as soon as I get past these few hiccups!!

Never had that happen, but I knew a guy that locked his key in there once. LOL. kinda t: i know, but hey, things could be worse.

I'd like to. Dallas is a bit further trek than from New Orleans though. Hill made it from the hillcountry though. Need a reunion meet. Need to see if Crispin is still beathing. MAYBE he's allowed back at the cabins! :mrgreen:
