Ok, as best I can describe it, the forks are not hanging at the same length. I had the seals changed and when I placed the forks in the triples I noticed the bottom of the forks ( caliper mount end ) were about ½ inch off from each other horizontally. I mounted the wheel by slightly lifting the left fork tube to insert the axle. No noticable ride complications or issues. Has anyone ever had this happen?
Both upper tubes are at exactly the same spot in the triples, just the chrome part of forks are different in lengths.
Thanks for any info.

as far as I know they were set back to what I had it at before the seal job. I will verify everything tomorrow though ( count backwards then reset on all 3 adjustments for both sides )

Just checked... All settings are equal on both sides. Not sure why one tube would hang lower than the other... Aren't they pretty much clamped in at the top of the tube?

Adjusting preload, etc won't change anything.

Preload will only change if there's a load on forks.
You could take the springs out and the forks should
still expand to the same length.

If you are saying the forks are being "freely suspended" and are extending
to different lengths? Doesn't sound right to me.

The only thing that I can think of is the top caps weren't installed
correctly.

There's a cartridge internal to the fork that runs bolted to the bottom and the
other end of the cartridge is attached to the top cap via a threaded adjustable rod.
Where it attaches is adjustable. This is also what keeps you forks from coming apart.
If both forks/top caps where adjusted to specs then I can't see how they would be different lengths when stretched apart/freely suspended.

Sounds like the top caps where not installed/adjusted correctly?

Not trying to sound the alarm but if one of the top caps
is barely hanging on it would not be a good thing.

If you really think you can take the 2 forks tubes in hand and
stretch them apart and they come to different lengths, then
yes I would disassemble and double check everything, doesn't
sound right to me.

I might be wrong.....
Maybe one of the suspension guys here can chime in.
