Well, my eldest daughter Brittany was officially sworn in the Army yesterday and shipped out this morning. She just landed in Dallas/Fortworth changing planes and heading next to Atlanta, Ga. From there she will go by bus to Columbia, SC where she will go through nine weeks basic training at Fort Jackson. After basic she then goes to Fort Lee Virginia for an additional nine weeks of school as a Supply Specialist. Its tough to watch one of your children enter the military at a time like this but I'm so proud of her. Having spent eight years in the Marine Corps I know that this experience will be good for her and will certainly give her an opportunity to mature into a strong independent young women. Its been a real challenge and battle of wills with her the last few years but watching her graduate high school a couple of weeks ago and now go into the military made me realize that she is becoming an adult and is no longer my little girl
Its not easy letting them go and stretch their wings.......but what can you do.....just love them.....

Kahoo's oldest son Robert is up in NC awaiting his plane ride to Iraq in December tagging along with a Special Forces team. Yes we're worried but also proud.

Very good choice "92A" of the few "good" army jobs. If or when she does get out of the Army, she will have no problem with getting a Government Contractor job. There is good money here and overseas as a civilian doing the same thing, but being paid 2-3 times as much.

 LOL I will never forget the footprints and the DI pointing to a water tower and saying it was a door knob to a world of hell and are ass's was his. Hope she likes the hurry up and wait style of life they format them into... btw.. thanks fer raising a kid with values! most of the kids I see now couldn't handle it.

Wow, that is a huge adjustment for the both of you.

I have 3 little girls and I cannot begin imagine what it's going to feel like to see them make life changing decisions.

Wish her the best over the next couple of months

PS - I was a young recruite at Ft. Jackson... 17 years ago
