I usually throw these things away. Just wanted some opinions from those that have discarded this thing on a 10r regarding additional engine noise or heat after discarding this piece. I've noticed that the Kawasaki engine makes a bit more noise than my former favorite 'other' brand of motorcycle.

Purpose of that thing is to stop most of the hot air that has gone through the radiator, from working its way into the throttle bodies, fuel tank, etc. It is also a barrier against radiant heat from the engine itself. I've kept it ...

Same here... It doesn't make much difference either way. Removed it on the first Gen 1 I had, after the first valve adj/tuneup. Never missed it. Have it still on my current Gen 1 and think the biggest benefit is that it keeps excess water runoff to a minimum when washing the bike.. YMMV
