Your slip-ons connect to the cats? Not just cans?

Removing OEM mid y pipe
So I bought a slip on set up for my 07 and am wondering if there are any tips on removing the piping from the cans to the cat pipe? Do I have to unbolt the header in order for it to slip off of the cat piping?
The allen keys bolts from the header to the cat pipe are rusted beyond belief so that's a no go at this point
