Coming back from a ride....red light came on....bike was riding and running fine. Came home, plugged in the trickle charger and the light went out when I started it up. So new battery needed?

FI light can mean many different errors. Should it come back get a reading of the FI code to figure out what is causing it.

Look up the owners manual for your bike and you should find a description of what the dash lights mean there.

Accordingly to the service manual:

I moved the display to odometer, pushed the A and B button simultaniously and no code came up.

Red light doesn't stay on anymore. Starts and it goes out.

I just ordered a new battery....will have in a few days....It 's a Shorai and it is 5 years old....time to replace it.

I think its how these bikes age.
I'm nearing 62k and occasionally on start up i will get the red light, turn key off and back on and poof it goes away. I have a newer battery as well but i am starting to think my piggyback FI system might be the cause.
No issues otherwise as far as mpg/performance/etc.
