Outside of some type of misuse or abuse I would assume the warranty would cover a defective rear shock. Could any of the oil get on the rear tire? If so, there is more ammo for you if they are uncooperative. But with such a new bike, I would think this should be covered. Are you gonna call the dealer in the morning to find out about the warranty situation?

I sure as hell am...
I have fluid up to the tail light...
all over the place... real bummer...
no abuse... I take very good care of my bikes...
seems to be coming out of the body of the shock, not the shaft seal.. :(

It's hard to tell but it looks like the bladder cap (silver plate) is weeping. If it is then the you could have a bad/rolled bladder during install. It happens. Hopefully Kawi will cover it, but if they dont, you could have it fixed for fairly cheap. Something like that coming through our shop would be around $150.

So I took it to the dealer last night... will be under warranty as I did not here any bad news today :)
the fluid that leaked out was VERY dark...
I think the shock had issues from the get go..
No reason the fluid should be mud with 3 thousand miles on it...
hope to get it back in a week

good. My first thought, though, was that '11 g4 had a recall about spilling engine oil toward the rear tire. The '13 didn't have that problem; so good to hear that the newer didn't either.

edit: get that extended warranty if you ride a lot, NEVERTHELESS!

Kawa corp is your benefactor. The dealer is part of the solution.

one...more...time....Buy extended warranty. The 10r is the first super I've owned that demands extended. On my 2011 10r lost 12,000 dollars BECAUSE no extended warranty. '13 has it AND the fookin bike blew up at 70,500 miles; AND had been at the dealer since May 29, 2017 (today is 10.13.2017). It takes dealers time to rebuild engines but Kawa pays the bill.

Shock is nothing. Engine or frame failure is major (never heard of 10r frame failure).
