you should be able to remove your inside hand from the bars while cornering.

I’ve heard the opposite and that you should be able to keep the outside arm loose and be able to remove whilst cornering. Perhaps it’s just generally the same goal in an attempt to stay loose and to not be tense.

Taking your outside hand off is a piece of cake compared to the inside. When you death grip the bars and get stiff and crossed up it is almost always because of the inside arm.

Lmfao is that legit?!

On another note, I went ahead and bought a used suit off of a guy for 50 bucks. Still need proper boots and gloves but at least I’ll somewhat look the part. Also got some stands.

The Mrs is saying I’m impulsive suddenly lol what does she know.

I could be wrong but it looks like that suite has no knee sliders and the right knee is ripped or torn and patched with duct tape. I have never owned a cycle gear branded suite or jacket or even boots but from what I have heard they do not hold up for crap. Again I could be wrong but I hope you don't have to test that theory and if you do I really hope I am wrong. like everyone else said, baby steps, best of luck.

It does look like something is up with that left knee. It can be repairred if it's a tear though.

Knee sliders are cheap on eBay. I still need to pick up a set of my own, borrowed a set off of my dads suit last time I hit the track lol.

I have pucks for it but I’ll likely grab another set so I’m not “faking the funk”. I have a set of “something” Chicken pucks (I forget the name). It does have a rip in the on the right knee and my old lady will be patching it up for me. For $50 I won’t complain as I didn’t want to go full commit on a new set of leathers when it’ll be my first track day.

For $50, that's a deal of the century...so hell yeah, patch it up and run it. I can promise you nobody is going to care about the pucks, save your money and don't waste money on knee pucks if you don't need a new set. The suit does look a tad short on the arms though - make sure your gloves extend enough to provide adequate forearm coverage.

That's a clean 2nd gen for sure! I'm not even a fan of the bodystyle but I still think yours looks good. Keep it that way...

My exact thought about the leathers. I had been searching for about a week from Phoenix, to Vegas even in SoCal for a set at a good price and these ended up popping up about 15 minutes from my house. Regarding the pucks, I’m a nerd about seeing my own progress so adding my own scuffs is a must for me. Won’t be changing them to go to the canyons but definitely will before I hit the track. I think the suit is a tad short overall, they’re maybe an inch above my wrist and maybe 1.5-2.5 above my ankle. First thing I did was throw in my boots to make sure it went together right and I think any set of gauntlet styles gloves will suffice. I’ve yet to pick any up though. Wanting to wear it to this weekend to hit the canyons but without the gloves I’m sure it’ll look goofy so I likely won’t.

To be honest I was never much of a fan of the gen 2 either. Up until buying it I thought they were ugly and fat looking. I might get shunned for this but I even disliked the kawi green and initially wanted to order a set of fairings at my first chance. Needless to say it has grown on me. Will likely change the color of the wheels but the rest (barring any shenanigans) will remain as it is.
