My grandmother is playing words with friends and can't swap tiles

She can't seem to swap tiles, she has no vowels but clicking the swap button does nothing.

I'm assuming you can't "start" your turn (I.E. lay a single tile on the field)

but I don't play and i don't know, I just get to see snippets of the game.

I think she has layed a tile and then pulled it back, but don't know and it's difficult to explain

any help here, anyone able to explain how "swap" in words with friends works?

when you hit swap, it brings up a new page. all your current letters at the bottom and a blank row up top. place the letters you want to swap on the top row and then hit swap.

well there in lies the problem, clicking the "swap" button does nothing.

now there could be a few reasons why, but can't seem to find anywhere that tells me that.

1. could be that there were no tiles left in the bag, it was pretty near the end of the game and all she had was consonants... but it would have been nice for some kind of message saying "no tile remain to be swapped" or something like that.

2. she started her turn by placing letter tiles on the playing field and thus "started" her turn so maybe you can't put all your tiles back on the wrack and "swap"...

in any case, clicking the swap button did nothing and she didn't know why

rgr, ok, just wanted to make sure

it had to be the zero tiles in the case this time... i think the last time it was because it wasn't her turn...

thanks
