Okay so I bought my gen 1 new and stock it did the pinging sound usually associated with bad gas. Normally in shitty cars right? Well the only thing I've done is a BMC filter and Area P slip on and it still does it. 4900 miles and about 3k of those with the above additions. Any suggestions or clues? Should I get a PC3 or similar and remap for less/ more fuel?

Typically pinging is realated to detonation.

Sometimes due to low octane fuel, or advanced timing.

Do you have a TRE? Just curious

Gipro, yeah but it has been doing this since new and I only put hi octane in it.

My first gen does it as well,slip,bemc,but it seems to be worse lately.I think the additives in the new fuel has made it worse.:dontknow:

I thought about trying some octane boost but even if that cured the problem, i'd have a new one. The price of octane boost everytime i needed to fill up. oh well.

Well I just thought of another question. I'm going to do the secondary butterflies soon. Will this have any effect on the pinging? Worse or better?
