Just looking for a new jacket now that i had an accident which shredded my textile jacket. I was wondering if anyone knows how tough a perforated leather jacket is...

I have a perf leather, and it def looks to protect better than my textile. It may be hotter in the summer, but better protection IMHO.

Good enough that racers including motogp use perf leater in areas of the suit less suseptable to damage.

Just buy a good brand, vanson, syed, z custom and there are some "off the shelf" but high quality ones avail.

There are also often vents that can be opened for more cooling.

I like fieldsheer and first gear is pretty good and reasonable priced.

Jacket looks good, flex panels, kidney pads, elbo pads, waist straps to cinch it and a hump.

Ideally you could sew a zipper to some draggin jeans or icons or whatever to connect to the jacket for a little extra protection.

Or the matching perf leather bottoms. Jacket probably comes with the zipper and the half to have sewn to some pants- many if not all good ones do.

I don't see any big shoulder pads, but there must be some protection in there too, you can also add a back pad to step up the protection.

Or the armour you can wear under lesser jackets is an option too.

kind of like http://www.bohn-armor-pants.com

remember you can try our sponsors for deals.

I had a friend crash in textile in front of me a few weeks ago. Trust me buy the leather. The textile burnt up in a matter of a few seconds. I have a perforated suit and I know Hill has the same one. He has told me that he has been down a few times and its still holding up just fine. Its the motogp kangaroo suit btw

I have some perforated pants that have hit the asphalt at least once. You can hardly tell it's been down and I've never heard of there being any problems with perf leather before. :dontknow:

Wow, is textile really all that bad? I ride with an alpinestars t-stunt airflow, thought I was protected... starting to rethink that. Off topic here but doesnt it piss you guys off when you see idiots hot rodding around wearing a t-shirt and shorts on their brand new R6 or whatever?

...doesn't piss me off, cause it's not my ass; but I do cringe at knowing what could/would happen if they went down with that get up...

My new summer jacket is a Vanson hurricane (perf leather) and it's really nice.

**I bought the hurricane and lightning in Solar leather (white in daylight and glows in dark).

I know Vanson's expensive, but they use a very thick cut/ply of leather and have the best fit and construction I've ever seen.

The Vanson perf leather is actually as cool, if not cooler, than my textile/mesh Joe Rocket Alter Ego... which I now feel naked when wearing

Also, Vanson sells 3 levels of armor for their jackets and pants: street, CE and racing. I have all CE, except for the racing (articulated) back protector.
