This was brought up in a discussion in the chat room. I email Dyno Jet and this is what their response was:

Basically they accomplish the same thing. The PCIIIr alters the crank signal which fools the ECU into delivering a different timing curve. The ignition module actually drives the coils which is a much more precise way of handling the timing. The Ignition Module will also allow you to extend the rev limiter on many models.

they don't make a PCIIIR for the 10.

Didn't know that....More good info.....I was just asking a generic question about the difference between the two.

Ignition module needs the pc3usb to work, not the pc3r, which killer says they don't make for the 10.

Exactly get the PCIIIusb and an Ignition Module if you want it all.

Already got it, from Ivan with his map- already had the TRE. Very happy.
