I am building a ZX10 turbo for land speed racing. My calculations show that the max sprocket configuration of about 19/36 will not get enough speed. Are there any overdrive gears available for 5th and sixth gear? I have overdrive gears in my Hayabusa transmission, and that is good for about 260 mph. I am looking for the same thing for the ZX10. Anybody know of a supplier?

Hi Don, congrats on the choice of literbikes. I don't know of anyone who makes an overdrive 6th for the ZX10, it would need to be a custom job. The factory produces a slightly taller 6th, equivalent to one tooth on the rear sprocket. However, you can go lower than 36 on the rear, I have used as low as 32. The smaller sprockets don't last long, but they work. I'm also about to try a 20 in the front.

kawi makes over drive gears for the 10r if you check out the race manual. they have all sorts of configurations for gearing but maybe try that.

i agree the do make other gears im currently getting the bike loaded in my truck for an engine build to try for 220 mph but no overdrive gears for me just gearing for me will touch that speed so please post up that build plz

As I said, Kawasaki does make a slightly taller 6th, but it's a small improvement, 1.27 from 1.30 stock.

Thanks for the replies. I was just assuming that I could not go lower than 36 teeth in back because that is the smallest I can go on my Hayabusa. Any smaller than 36 and the sprocket is smaller than the hub. I will get with Sprocket Specialists and see what they have.
When I start building the engine, I will post my progress.

Forget land speed, I would just like to find overdrive becuase I do all parkway miles. I'd like to save some gas and vibration from the high rpm.
