OEM Paint Yellowing

Hey guys,

New member here with a question on OEM paint finish. Just purchased an old stock 2014 and am having an issue with the gas tank paint yellowing on me. The bike paint finish is nice and glossy but when you look at it you can see the gas tank is significantly darker and more yellow compared to the rest of the body work.

I clay barred, glazed, and waxed the tank hoping it would show some improvement but no go. Is this a common issue, and something covered by warranty or am I on my own and looking to pay for a respray. Only thing I haven't tried is an iron remover like Iron-X.

Here's a quick photo of the difference, much more dramatic in person.

Well the tank portion that is discolored is metal, where as the other portion of the tank is plastic. I would make a warranty claim on that.
I believe the clearcoat is yellowing cause of uv light. Are you sure it's the oem paint?

I'm fairly certain its the OEM paint as the bike was never titled, was sitting on the floor for two years. Dealer never mentioned having to repaint it from shipping damage or the like.

I looked into the UV light damage and came across this photo which is exactly what its doing, just not as severe at the moment.

Seems the only fix is to have it repainted, I started a warranty claim with Kawasaki, have to wait on the response now. Appreciate you pointing me into the right direction as to what could be wrong with it.

Finally had my problem resolved. Kawasaki warrantied the tank with no issue.
Took a minute to get the tank in but other than that, I'm very satisfied with my first Kawasaki experience.

The white is awesome. Knock on wood I've yet to make any claim as my bike hasn't had a single issue. The gen 4 is a well built motorcycle.

Every mile brings smiles.
