I've always changed both tires at the same time on all my bikes BUT I'm a bit financially challenged right now. Ideally I'd change both but thinking of going rear now and possibly front in a couple thou. Anybody else do this? If so, how are the results? What about going with a different brand F and R? Any replies would be appreciated.

I usually change 2 rears to 1 front. I wouldn't mix tire brands or even types but you can probably get away with it.

I had the stock OEM Dunlap on mine in front and replaced the OEM rear with a 190/50/17 Continental Road Attack.
I rode like this the last 2 months of summer we had here in Indiana.
No track on this combination,I didn't notice any issues on the street and in the twisties down south.
I've recently switched out the front to a Continental Road Attack also.
