Hey man, we got the same bike!

Welcome ! I'm not the best man to ask advice to, since I'm not an experienced mechanic or anything, but here's what going on with my own '16 ZX10R:
-2WDW Flash & tune
-TechSpec Snake Skin tank pads
-Probably an hotbodies or PUIG windcreen (whichever I can get cheap in Canada.. haven't seen any ZG shipping to Canada yet).
-M4 GP Slip-on whenever I can afford it.

Even though you might find it ugly, it has its utility. If he plans to ride with a passenger often I would advise him to keep it... otherwise if it gets rainy the passenger will end up with a line of crap on his/her jacket.

Add a seat cowl and remove the passenger pegs. Problem solved.
