Hi Guys,
I just bought a 2008 zx-10R Lime Green and just took it out for the 1st time today on a real cruise.
I got a few questions.
The bike is very torquey. Revs out fast and quick and tops out in 6th gear at 65 mph with 4200 RPM's on the highway. I can get this up to like 12,500 RPM's fast too and peg the speedometer at will but I'm just looking to get use to the bike right now.
Is this normal because this thing revving like this @ 4200 RPM's at 65 MPH for an hour is hard on the body.
Also damn these bikes are uncomfortable as hell.

Thanks and hope to hear from you guys.

:welcome: Superstockracer! :welcome:

You can change the sprockets to change the gearing to what you need. But remember, changing the gearing not only makes the speedo off, it can affect how the bike works in stop and go situations.

This is a decent site to help you in your gearing search:

Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator
Can anyone tell me what a stock sprocket rpm would be in 6th gear at 65 mph?
That must be close to mine at 65 but idk for sure. I have stock 17/39 gearing. If you're feeling tired I think just not used to the bike so I would stay in the comfort zone until all together with it.

Check for a number on the sprocket. A search of specs for your bike might work.
Stock gearing for 08-10 is 17/41.

Thanks do you know how many rpms you're doing at 65 mph in 6th gear?
Id like to be at 2000 rpm at 65 mph in 6th gear.
I don't know if I'm off base or not. This is my 1st rodeo with on of these bikes.

Last bike I had was a 79 KZ1000.

Uncomfortable? You're talkin riding on the road...

Set it up for the place you are riding/racing.

The road is entirely different than a race track.

Spiegler has kits for the handlebars...
2000 rpms at 65 is not what this bike is designed to do. Even a Harley ain't at 2 grand at 65. I'll move on before I say something else.

Do you have a link to Spiegler and what you're referring to.
Like I said, I'm new to these ZX-10R's but want to learn. Thanks

I don't have a link, But I'm confident You could Google Spiegler or Spiegler USA, or if your close to an aftermarket supply store that does high end assessories for Sport bikes... You could ask them.

Spiegler has really made a mark in the European movement of conversions of Road Race based bikes, to bring that performance to the street.

There are also pictures of bikes on this site, that have them. :grin2:

I just looked on Spieglers website. That's exactly what I want and need. Going to get that setup. Doesn't look too hard to install either. Thankyou.

Goin to check my sprocket size tonight. Been raining here off and on all day long. And of course, when I get home from work it's down pouring.

 That kit includes everything top shelf quality, and right.

Thank God the Euro bikers have created this movement to support these conversion components...
