So I have some neopixels laying around and I wanted to mod my windscreen to light a certain way at certain speeds and RPM's as well as maybe some homemade datalogging. I was looking at Kawaduino and it's maximum refresh rate on the can is apparently 2hz. How does the tach on our gauge operate so quickly (thought it was CAN based) and is there an easy way to tap into that instead of polling RPM via CAN? I'm either going to use a Raspberry Pi or an Arduino, I have more experience with the Arduino so it will probably be that.

P.S. I have an unmodified 07 ZX10R.

Is the diagnostics port not a CAN bus? If you look up kawaduino he uses an 08 and I'm pretty sure when I look at the code it's CAN bus communication?

Nevermind, hadn't noticed it was a 650r and by the looks of it a 2009/10. Is there any kind of two way communication that can be done with the ecu?

As stated, no. It's all analog/digital data into and out of the ECU on those models. There is no serial connection point, let alone a CANbus communication line.
