I think the new CRT category for MotoGP will be interesting. Its a clever idea and it'll hopefully bring more teams in to the competition for an otherwise dwindling racing series.

Looked atthe article and have no idea what's going on, other than porn for gear heads is still out there. Anybody shed some light or point me in the right direction?

What does CRT stand for anyway? What
Well it stands for claiming rule team, which is supposed to be a way for Moto2teams and new teams to enter the motogp. Basically it is like moto2, using production-based engines in prototype chassis. Dorna claim it is a cost effective way to increase grid size, but they seem to be saying now they think it is the future of motogp racing. There's alot of discussion out there about this as it seems several of the existing motogp satellite race teams are considering building crt bikes as opposed to leasing factory bikes.

As usual, stoner is being very outspoken on the subject, going so far to say if crt is the future of motogp racing, he's not interested in racing them and threatening to quit. I kinda see his point, i think if they really wanted to cut some cost of motogp racing, quit changing the rules every year, and severely restrict electronic rider aides.

BTW, to the OP, great pics.

1000 cc bikes min weight is 336 lb.
800 cc bikes min weight is 330 lb.

Also, prototype bikes are limited to 6 engines per rider.
CRT bikes are limited to 12 engines per rider.

Stop crying stoner. Dorna needs to something or there gonna be no bikes racing in MOTO gp. And that kawi looks sweet.
Yes, but at the same time i don't want to see gp become like ama/dmg superbike. I like the idea of the worlds best riders on the most advanced equipment. I think they need to set the rules and leave it. Can you imagine how much these factories had in the 990cc bikes, only to have to scrap them alltogether and build 800cc bikes, now only to scrap them for 1000cc's? And the electronics is a HUGE expense. I read where colin edwards was talking about the electonics on his old 990 factory m1 vs the 800 satellite m1. He said the 990 had 8-10 electric settings whereas his 800 had 40.

Yeah they need to do something to breathe some life back into the series, but turning it into a souped-up streetbike spec class is not the answer. Just my 2c.

I kinda see it as evolving in a bit of a different direction. Nothing wrong with that IMO. But then again I'm not a hardcore GP fan more of a casual one.

They could have made the front look a little nicer. Im interested to see how this new CRT idea goes. Its going to be some time before they are on pace with the prototypes, but the racing mid pack may be a lot more fun to watch

According to this, they are quite a long way from mid pack lap times. Obvioulsy this is the 1st test and much improvements will be made. But after reading this, it's obvious the mountain these crt teams will have to climb to be anywhere near competitive. Racing for the podium will be out of the question for these guys.

In short, colin edwards was the fastest crt bike, with a lap time a whopping 3 seconds slower than the slowest motogp bike in qualifying this year and 1 second slower than the quickest moto2 bike of the test. They've got a long way to go. Surely they'll improve, if not these bikes will be hazardous to the motogp bikes on the track.

Yeah I've know that FTR was doing something for a while.

I was looking at getting one of there swing arms a while back and had seen that they had a 2011 ZX10R that they where trying to scale down for racing purposes.

Hadn't seen the end result though...looks AWESOME!

Still want that swing arm but at 3,600 Euro it may have to wait.
