OK I just got my bike back from a valve job and plug change and just finished putting everything back on, but when i went to crank it, the damn thing sounds like a 450 4wheeler...and wont indle. it just dies. It also takes me giving it gas to crank it. Anybody have any ideas?

The guy that did the work thinks he may have put the plug wires on in the wrong order. Would this cause it to act retarded?

AND YOU LET HIM DO THE VALVES? :dontknow: Tell me he didn't actually do an adjustment as well(took the CAMs out) :badteeth: :dontknow:

come on bloo help me out here. Im furious right now.

I didnt think anyone could fuck up plug wires but i may be wrong on this one

Ok I will try, my first thought is not likely pluged in the wrong port the harness only allows enough wire to plug into the right plug. With that said very easy to think it's pluged in and it's not. Ask 1killer1litter came to my house and thought the engine blew a rod or something....we pulled the code and it was for a stick coil...removed the tank and sure enough the plug was not seated all the way.

Now help us help you was or was the cams removed, what work was actually DONE? :wink:

if the plug wires are in the wrong order it will do the same thing your describing. get a service manual and check see if there in the correct order. if not put em back the way they should be and not take your bike back to that mechanic again lol.

lol...if the stock wiring harness was not messed with it should be easy to see the flow of the connectors where the plug into but it is possible I suppose.

Also, BigCat you need to feed as much info. as you can like simple things are you even getting a F1 light. :badteeth::dontknow:

nope, wasnt even getting an FI light. I had did the pair valve block off mod before putting airbox and tank back on but thats it. Now its not even starting when i give it gas. I dont think he removed the cams, but ill ask him. i know he removed the cam chain tensionor though

There are marks on valve cover, lines, that dictate the orientation of the stick coil caps. Marks on the stick coils must match the line directions. Like Bloo said, the stock harness can't allow the wires to be wrong really.

Make sure the air temp sensor is plugged in.

Also confused if you had worked done then wouldn't you have at least tried to start the bike after you picked her up?....or was the bike just picked up put on a truck you got home and this happened? :dontknow:

Yeah if he changed any of the valve shims at all he had to remove the cams and probly put them back in out of time! Thats what it sounds like to me.

yea he changed the shims. I took off the the tank, radiator, plastics etc and brought it to him to save money. when i got it home i put it all back together to have it acting like shit...

I would say he timed it wrong there are manuals posted here that will guide you through the timming I would check that first, hopefully he knew what he was doing when he shimmed the valves and dont have them to tight. I think hellrazor may be close to you I think he just went through a valve job.

hes abt 3hrs away...im furious right now though, i skipped getting paid tonight just to put my bike back together so i could ride and this shit happens...

That sucks I know how it feels I hope you get it worked out there are a lot of really smart guys here that will help you through just read up on the timming about 3 or 4 times until you think you understand it and then ask questions and someone will explain it so that it is understandable it isnt to hard.

I just pulled my plugs two weekends ago so that's why I remembered those. Orientation marks.

I didn't do nothing other than point out a few things to look at.. the others did :thumbsup:....agree nothing better when your bike comes back to life and for some of us especially the 10R. :eek:ccasion1
