Go the Gen2...

Lol, good to know realistic numbers and comparisons... Thanks...

How did the torque peaks compare to the revs they were at? That's what Gen 1 owners rave about, not so much the numbers but delivery?

Not sure. I am supposed to get an e-mail Monday morning with all of the dyno graphs. I will post them up as soon as I get them.

nice #s

how many miles on the '07? hopefully he has at least a couple thousand on it

which 07?

I am pretty sure the 07 gixxer has well over 1000
The 07 zx10 has nearly 1000 possibly over.............
The 06 also has around 1000.
My bike has around 2500.

All of these bikes except for the 06 Zuke were broken in the right way..........WOT from the showroom floor. ;)

What was funny was all of the guys at the "suzuki" shop were most impressed with my bike. The last few 04-05 10's they dynoed were between 146 and 150 whp. They said most of the 07 gixxers ranged from 155-160whp.

I guess WOT from the showroom floor is the only way to go. :)

my 07 gsxr has 1500, the 07 zx10 has 600, the 06 gsxr is around 1300.

and you thought the 05 would be in the 140's..

Best dyno comparo I have seen yet. All bike same conditions, same dyno, mileage all close too. I always thought the Gixxer and 10r were pretty close. Throw in the weight difference and the hp difference wont matter.

LoL I know. I was shocked just like everyone else.

I thought for sure Chuck's 06 gsxr 1000 would have dynoed more than my bike.

there you go again, maybe more HP(2.5hp in this test ) but it also is not the lightest 1000cc bike like the first Gen 10rs as low as 407lbs dry weight compared to as much as 420+lbs dry weight for second Gens. sorry to get technical but you always start it. :heyyou:

yeah i am at it again. just throwing thought out there what the 08 will be like. As for numbers it does not matter at the end of the day.
All in all just light hearted banter. As for the extra pork on the gen2, why are they not significantly slower than the gen1? where we only have a measly 2.5hp advantage which could well be consumed in the drivetrain. :heyyou:

Because a 15lb advantage equates to a 2hp advantage….yes none of these #s mean anything.

SportRider tests:

ZX-10R ('04) 6/04, 10/04 31/51/36 164.2 @ 12,000 80.0 @ 9750 436 409lbs

ZX-10R ('05) 5/05 33/51/39 158.4 @ 11,500 78.3 @ 9750 436 409lbs

ZX-10R ('06) 6/06 31/49/38 166.1 @ 12,000 81.8 @ 8500 451 424lbs

The 04/05 weighed in at 409lbs dry the 06 424lbs as you can see the 04 was less than 2hp difference than the 06. None of #s mean anything other than the weight but it is interesting with this thread though it reported they actually showed a 2.5hp difference when tested at the same time(some members reported a bigger advantage)…bottom line these bikes are so close no need to put a blanket statement like the 2nd gens are more “Powerful” like to suggest it’s a huge upgrade or something :headshake::heyyou:

Granted Bike is the same performance wise. Like i said It all just light hearted banter. If you taking it to another level. It will be never ending debate. Now let throw something else into the ring. It how the bike delivers the power. I am led to believe the gen2 has a smoother power delivery thus maiking easier to take advantage of the power on tap. On the other hand gen1 has a bigger bang on the delivery side. Something to keep in mind when you leaned over trying to wind on the throttle and not break traction.:heyyou:

Ok, I give up....never said anything about handling or power delivery just your continue responses in this thread and others and even show stats to back it up. Most likely you will hear from me again in other posts when you make Blanket statements that you can count on.

There was a link on here for an artical on dynojet dynos. In that artical they tested 3 different dyno shops with 3 different set-ups and got 3 very different readings at every one of them. I think the dyno is better served for testing mods for gains than it is for comparing bikes true HP #'s. IMO
