I've been riding for years but have always worn textile jackets. In the Texas heat, I have always found it difficult to even wear my textile jacket.

So today, I decided to pick up a Sedeci Monza leather jacket from CycleGear. It was a really great price, so I figured...why not?! The temp is in the 100's today and I honestly felt A LOT cooler than I did without a jacket (obviously) and even with my textile.

Anyway, I just figured I'd share my learning experience with ya'll.

Yeah, the Sedici stuff isn't the best of the best stuff, but for the price it's tough to beat. Glad you found something for protection in the heat.

Sweat wipes off, road rash doesn't.

yes it does, u just have to hit gravel so they have to scrub it out lol

Ive been wearing the Ninja jacket id posted about a while back and it breathes really well in shitty LA heat and humidity. just try ur hardest not to catch traffic or ull go up in flames from how sucky it is stopped

It gets warm down here to and we also started with the textiles, but have long since moved to using leather gear. The perforated leather gear only sucks at stop-lights.
Remember: sweat dries faster than road-rash heals. (a *lot* faster).

How's the zipper quality? I've read several postings from people who have had trouble with their zippers soon after purchase.

I've read those reviews too... that didn't stop me from making my purchase though. They are YKK zippers and seem to be pretty sturdy. If they do mess up, there is a Lifetime Warranty and I'll just take it back.

For the price ($270 out the door), it really is a great deal. Comfort wise, I have no issues. Again, this is in the Texas heat. The quality of the leather feels pretty good as well. It might not be the same as the more popular brands, but you can definitely feel that it's going to offer better-than-skin protection. It has CE rated armor, which I have read is probably the lower end of the CE rated armor there is, but you can swap it out if you choose to do so.

There were posts that said it's just rebranded Frank Thomas. In all reality, for me... is whether or not it feels comfortable and safe. Am I able to afford the other brands (A*, Dainese, RS-Taichi)?... Absolutely. The majority of my riding is my daily commute, which takes me about 30miles total each day. I am actually considering picking up the matching pants as well.

On another note (in terms of CG brand quality)... In October of 2011, I had a mishap with another vehicle in an intersection @ about 25-30mph. I flew off my bike and hit the ground with one fo my Bilt textile jackets. I was not injured and if I wasn't wearing my jacket, I would have been messed up pretty good. The only damage on my jacket was a scuff on the shoulder where I landed, none of the seams were busted.

Excellent! Nice little review, Squidward :+1: I'm having a jacket custom made/fitted right now, but I may get this one in white as well.

I bit the bullet and bought an RS-Taichi RSJ825 GMX-Motion jacket along with a pair of RS-Taichi GP-WRX gloves.

I'll admit, I returned the SEDICI jacket to CycleGear... but I'll still say that the SEDICI jacket felt great... not as great as my RS-Taichi though. ;)

Well Ill have to say I had a Sedici suit and returned it for an A*s. While I wasnt un happy with the Sedici, the A*s is miles ahead of it. The Taichi stuff looks like amazing quality stuff and it sounds like your happy with it.
