Kit ECU resource thread

Figured I'd start a thread dedicated to sharing resources and findings associated to the Gen5 Kit ECU and harness. Let's keep this DEDICATED TO KIT ECU ONLY. I don't want this thread getting cluttered up with questions about how you can map the Kit ECU values to your woolich system. It doesn't work like that.

v1.0, v1.01, v1.03, v1.10 (expert program) : for 16-18 ZX10R kit ecu's
v2.0 : for 19-20 ZX10R kit ecu's
v3.0 : for 2021 ZX10R kit ecu's

For now I'll start it off with sharing the v1.00, v1.10 software, service manual and calibration manual pdf's:

16_ZX10R - Google Drive

2019-2020 v2.0 software and FI calibration manual: 20_ZX10R - Google Drive

Later on I'll be posting about my findings trying to make the cordona analog strain gauge sensor work with the Kit ECU:

Kawasaki KIT has separate numbers for tire dimentions and gearing for every power mode. BMW for example has only one global number and it was real pain to borrow expensive cable every time you took different tire or rain tire. Worth checking if KIT alternatives have this option!
So far I am leaning towards just the KRT Kit.
I can not find the full listing of items the FCtune do. It looks like KRT do everything I want (example)
  • Ending breaking maps
  • Traction Control and gearing adjustments and maps
Those are two items id adjust more than anything else.
I know woolich do not adjust TC
One reason I was looking at FCtune was cost. It look as if it was $100+ cheaper than buying the Kawasaki KRT software and cable. I assume it was easier to use id guess.
Do fTecu allow full access to everything? One main item i was looking at is traction control manipulation.
When you use the Ftecu no one have issues regarding the KRT software competing/overwriting the Ftecu?
I want to buy this asap (im gathering parts for the super build), but currently trying to find as much info as possible.
Ftecu vs. KRT software pro vs. con for both products?
Im sure the Ftecu has something that is a con vs. the KRT right??
The pros (just to name a few)
You can change just the KRT settings or KRT and the base maps with Ftecu. This includes traction and wheelie base maps.

Active tune - Close loop fueling runs in the ecu so you have system that ignores the false readings during rider aid strategies that cause piggyback log boxes to record errors in fueling suggestions.

The race team software has an excellent data streem for pro level tuning.

The con
You must have internet when making the changes.

Yes it is possible to overwrite the FTECU software by using the KRT software. However there is no reason to do this because the KRT tuning maps are in the FTECU software.

If you only use the krt you will be limited in the amount of adjustments you can make.

Real world questions....the KRT limited adjustments.... as far as club racing....will it make a big difference? In World Super Stock don't they only use the Factory supplied electronics?

Download/install KRT, have a look at all parameters avaliable. Myself starting ggen5 kit now, I find no significant adjustment missing (used gen4 kit before).
Live ("integrated") fuel tuning is not present. If need for it, then would choose AIM logger (display) with AIM lambda module. And make minor adjustments in based on bad afr and throttle feel at key parts of track.
In my KIT gen4 I had PowerCommander+AT200+POD300 logging (Commander passive not changing fuel). I trust this low tech more than fancy self-tuning stuff.

That is where I am going then. Ill buy the factory Cable and use all KRT stuff.
I do not want to over complicate things...especially on the track. One thing I do not like about Woolich is the need to have wifi to access the ecu....now that I see FCtune do also, ill stick with kaws stuff. Phone signal and wifi at most of the tracks I go to is sketchy as hell and if i need to make an adjustment and cant get to ecu because of wifi....

Thanks much, Full KRT system and AIM dash and I should be good to go. Time is running out fast.

The KRT base maps need serious help. TC, Wheelie, ETV and engine brake for starters. If you choose the FTECU race team package for this you can also add the active tune which logs data and provides live corrections.

Internet doesn't seem to be a problem for me at all. I'd rather it not be required but It's not really an issue. Thanks Verizon

DO you have a link to the FC tune equipment? That way i can read up on it.

Does anyone know if you can use the fi calibration software version 2.0 from the 19+ in the 16-18 kit ecu? I know the 19 ecu works in the 16-18 but didn't know if I could use that software with the older ecu.

Are you sure the ECU are compatible? I bought a 16-18 from my friend who bought a 2019. He kept the harness but sold me the ECU and for my 2016 and got a new ECU for his 19-20.

Yes you can put the 19 kit ecu in to a 16-18. I know someone that has 2 with this setup.
Guys, I have a question, where can you buy the KRT Adapter Box/cable ?

Dealership, Ebay had them also. Kawasaki website sale them also.
My local dealer is not authorized to sell them. I need to find another one. I live in Europe, not USA, I guess not all of them can sell these parts.

Limited quantity is sent to Europe twice per year and teams with good contact can have them.
Can sell you my ecu in november.
I already have the race harness and race ecu, but I moved to other country and the tools (software/ecu adapter) are with my team, I can't bring them here, I will ask them to order an adapter for me.
Thanks for your offer.
Planning on buying the new zx10?

P.S. I realize my question was a bit silly, so please excuse me for that.
