Today I picked up my 2018 ZX-10R. I blew the engine in my Daytona over the weekend and the bike is essentially my only vehicle - I live in SoCal.

I just did my first real, inaugural ride, i.e., one over a few miles. I love it it - a very different monster from the Daytona! I'm still in a bit of nostalgic thinking of it, but I know I'm going to love the new bike!

I have same bike and its definitely beautiful! Beware of the flat black paint though, it scratches very easily! Break her in right and you'll continue to be amazed at the performance of this machine! Enjoy!

I was worried about that with the flat paint, but I really loved the look!

I have to read the manual to learn all the controls. I know the quickshifter is generally only for the track, but I had put one on the daytona and loved using it all the time. By default, it doesn't seem to be enabled on the Ninja!

I'm assuming the break-in is similar to the daytona also.

Yea you will have to turn the QS on through the menu settings but its's very easy and comes off from factory. If you do use QS make sure its's only at higher revs with WOT like you would at track.. Break in is like any other bike. I spent the first 600 or so miles off/on with throttle using engine braking. Don't hold at steady RPM. Change oil early and just ride it! Break in is the worst part but well worth the wait!

I ended up getting a flash from Schnitz racing which unlocked the autoblip as well. I also have a 3/4 system and BMC race filter.

The one thing I did notice with your color scheme is that it seems more cagers don't see me as well and I have had some close calls on the road where people just pull right out. More so then my last bike (GSXR1000 Blue).

Post some more pics and enjoy that beast!!!

You going to love it!! I went from r1 to zx last year. My thoughts on break in are not much, just ride the thing. change the oil a time or 2 in the first 150-200 miles and rip it.

I was talking with a Honda engine tech about break-in - I know, different manufacturer - and he had said essentially the same thing: wait til the engine is at operating temps and then drive it like you stole it!
