if it starts and nothing flashes while the bike is on, then it is FINE

when you turn the key clockwise before your press the ignition button the red dot light and oil signals are suppose to flash.

I probably rode 70 miles yesterday. Got to a red light and stopped. Gave it gas and it stalled. Now my bike it clicking and not startiing too. I had it towed back to the dealership and I'm suppoed to call them today in a bit. I think the battery was weak and I drove the charge out of it.

Definitely sounds like a battery, you could try jump starting it and it should be fine but the clicking is usaully a dead give-away that the batttery is dead. Where did you get the bike from ? how long was it sitting without running? And if you dont ride it a lot....which there is no reason not to .........get a trickle charger

I ride a lot. I only picked it up from a friend 2 weeks ago. He never rode much and just bought a house so I took over his bike payments. It's a leftover 07 and he had only put 2200mi on it. It's got 2709 exactly now since i got it and now the battery is dead. He did have to roll start it so I could ride it home because it sat for 4 months and wasn't started. It's been fine since I've had it though until yesterday.

If it were me i would swap out the batttery anyways no matter what the shop tells you. Its just been sitting too long. But i would bet a GSXR or two that there going to tell you its the battery.

Good luck and i hope its a nice cheap fix

They have no idea what the problem was. It took a charge like a champ. They think maybe it stopped charging while I was ridign or there is a dead cell in the battery. If it happens again the say just change the battery. $39.50 for diagosis...could have been worse.

Im in the navy so I know a lot of guys that end up with bikes that have sat for awhile..........a long while.......most of them jumped back to life when we changed the plugs, bought a new battery and emptied out the old gas put fresh gas with injector cleaner. in an extreme case.........an R6 sat for over 2 years......he needed a new fuel pump along with the obvious tires and chain. A new battery ......$$$150ish i think is worht not getting stuck somewhere ..............IMO:thumbsup:

good luck with it :helmet:

Just replace that battery. Bikes are not like cars in this regard. Cars will charge a battery that has a weak charge pretty well (unless the battery is toast and won't take a charge). Bikes don't have the big generator/alternator, and our batteries are pretty small.

Your best bet, get a new battery and invest in a trickle charger. I got my charger a couple years ago at Walmart for $20. One of the best investments I've ever made.

dead battery? THANKYOU FOR ALL YOUR RESPONSES

Yes it makes the clicking noise before start up and doesnt fire at all i tried push starting it and it sounded like it was running for like 10 seconds and then conked when i hit the start button it just clicks and i took the gas tank off and the clicking seems to come from a block box in a holster under the right side of the tank it had a 30a fuse a plug with 3 wires and the posi wire off the battery going to could this be a tilt sensonr? Ps i also took the fuel pump out but it seemed to be fine and drained all the gas

Have a local shop run a diagnostic bike/battery. I had the same issue a month ago, i burnt up my stator. Obviously if the battery checks out and its not the plugs, the stator is your next step. Keep pricing for a rectifier in mind, if needed after the stator. hope all works out and its just the battery.

I had the same issue and it was my stator. I have a new OEM rectifier too if you need one.

I'm suddenly having the same problem. A friend is helping me diagnose. The battery, of course, was dead -- but charged right up on an external charger. My battery is outputting just over 12V now, but it's getting a recharge of only about 10-11V. He's suggesting that maybe it's the rectifier.

I ride my bike often -- probably close to 600 miles per week, so it's definately not due to low use. How long do you think a new battery might last in the bike if it's not being recharged properly. Also, what is a trickle charger? never heard of it :)

Thanks!

It is the battery for sure. The push start method works great but you need to be at 10 kph for that to work. Get to 10 kph in first and drop the clutch, she will pop into life. Do not press the starter at any stage.

I know all about dead batteries having been riding on one for months now, at my home and office I have hills and have to push start once every couple of days, just too lazy to get a new one so far. Charging helps it go for a week but then she dies again.

Step 1: take your battery out and have it load tested. If it happens again after a good battery then start looking at your stator.

Having the same problem right now! Replaced the battery with a new one.... same issue. Replaced the regulator/rectifier... same issue. Now it's going to the dealership to have the stator checked/replaced. It should be covered under my warranty.

Washed bike today.... high beam goes out 20 minutes into the ride then I loose the low beam. My battery has been on the weak side for some time now but I have thrown it on the tender a handful of times. Bike dies at stoplight and only the dash lights with the flashing red light, no clicking or anything.

hope I didn't fry something washing it cause now it's raining and I luckily I made it under an awning while it's thunderstorm in here. Waiting for the tow. Btw... fml. Hope it's the battery
