How concerned should I be about a small amount of dust getting past my sprint p08 filter?

So I decided to open up my airbox after some friends warned me about the p08 not filtering out dust well (i live and ride in vegas which is a desert). After putting close to 1k miles on the filter i did notice a very small amount of dust particles. I don’t know much about how dust getting through the engine will effect its lifespan. should I be concerned? Anyone else have this filter and notice something similar or share your experience?

anyone else running this filter?
Could this be the problem? A bad seal around the filter rather than the filtration media itself.

Hey Porschenut, yeah I watched this video and made sure that the rubber gasket is in place. I also saw some people recommend applying petroleum jelly for extra sealing. But I dont think its the seal around that is letting some particles through. In the video he does mention he does get a little bit of fine dust as well but doesn’t seem to be worried. I’m just wondering what the thoughts are here as some seem to think any dust at all will jack up your motor
Was there a problem with the stock paper filter? Could you feel any difference with the Sprint? Given where you live, I'd switch back to stock or find another performance filter if it makes a difference.
My $0.02-
I've been looking into Sprint filters for some time and I'm still on the fence despite the power gains. Seems to me that a Sprint is good for a track bike when competitiveness is important but for a street bike with mixed conditions (especially in a dusty climate), I've been sticking to my K&N for now. Nothing seems to get past it.

Nothing wrong with the stock, but I do notice a small power gain with it. I’m just wondering if I really should be concerned by a small amount of fine dust getting through. Theres a mix of opinions I’m seeing online but not definitive answers. I want to see if anyone here has been running the P08 and if their engines have been fine over a long period of time. If enough people have been having problems, then I think I’ll switch it out, but if not then I’ll assume it’s fine.
I don’t think a small amount of fine dust particles will hurt your motor after only 1000 miles. With consistent entrance of dust particles over a long period of time and high mileage, you could get some scoring on the cylinder walls. I would put the OEM filter back in living in the desert.

So I am going to give is another 2000 miles and check again to see if anything is getting through. Made sure to have it in there nice and tight.

So I tuned the bike with the Sprint in there. If I decide to go back to stock, would I need to tune it again?
Also if I switched to a different one like MWR WSBK: MWR WSBK Air Filter for 2016-22 Kawasaki ZX-10R / ZX-10RR - MC-040-16WSBK

would i need to reflash to that specific filter? Or are all high flow filters more or less the same tuning wise?
I had the same filter in my 2019 and also noticed dust particles after a year switched over to a BMC air filter and rechecked it this year was nice and clean inside.

good to hear. did you need to reflash?

ok cool. yeah i’ll give it one service interval and if there’s significant dust i’ll change it
I´ve been using a BMC Race air filter for several years and have never seen dust in the airbox.

P08 is a race filter, to be cleaned very often, not for dusty street riding, the new zx10r use oxide coated titanium valves, and won't wear well w excess dust n dirt. Oem filter or oil coated k/n for the street
