My son got center punched yesterday at track day. The video shows it all. Just should not have happened. We can only control what we do cannot control what other riders do. My son suffered a very subtle fracture of the Acetabulum. Still very painful. The R1 rider was taken in the ambulance.

Wow that really sucks, sorry to see that. From looking at the video I’m assuming the R1 locked up front and slid under your son? If that’s the case it seemed very early approaching the turn for that to happen. strange.

I can honestly say I know how it feels. In one of my 600cc superstreet races I got taken out from behind going down the hill into turn 5 at Willow Springs. I was really pissed. The rider came up to me in the pits and said “sorry” but that didn’t fix my wrecked bike. It’s never fun.

Hope your son recovers quickly.

My WORST fear at the track. Really glad he is ok. Hopefully the other rider is as well.

I have not heard anything on the other rider. It does happen but shouldn't at track day. Racing is more understandable but still unacceptable.

A few years back i got another rider hitting me full in my right flank @ the French track Magny Cours, he thought he could pass me on the inside :icon_rolleyes: luckily we both stayed in vertical possition i ran off track and back on. And could finish my session and day a happy man.
But things could be much more worse, the only thing whas swaping paint and a racing hearthbeat (for a few seconds) my friend who whas riding after me saw the whole thing happen and said aftherwords when we were back in the pits, if it were me i would have to step off my bike and breath some frech air before gettin back on track

Thanks Bloo I appreciate your thoughts. I will probably take you up on the parts offer. My once pristine Gen1 is hurt pretty bad. More pics later.

Thanks he's pretty resilant. I'm glad to hear that you were ok in your incident. We can only control what we do on track not what other riders do. sadly.

Glad to hear it wasn't more serious, but still a very shitty situation.

I hope for a great recovery and that you both get to get ride together again soon.

This is very unfortunate and scary. Your son will be ok, bones heal. I know it's hard for you, but don't be upset with the other rider. Things like that happen. We know the dangers of the sport and we choose to take them. Unless the other rider was out to get your son, you should try to forgive him. We ALL make bone headed mistakes sometimes.

It's hard to keep the competitive nature of men bottled up, especially when the adrenaline is already flowing. The mixture of testosterone, competitiveness, and adrenaline is what keeps sports of all kinds fun and interesting.
