Ok, here is my problem. For the second time, my bike started shutting off while riding like an electrical problem. I found out that when the idle control knob touches ground or metal to metal, it causes the engine to shut off.
First I like to ask you if anybody had similar problem, second if somebody can be nice to try and see if their bike dose the same thing.
Any help or input would be appreciated.

Isn't your idle control wrapped with a plastic knob on it?? I don't see how it could short unless for some reason you have metal sticking out somewhere...:dontknow:

By the way, you sure it isn't your kickstand switch not working properly?? Follow the 2 wires from the switch up until you find the bullet connectors (if our bikes have them), then unplug them and plug them into each other so the switch is not in use and you can still go riding to test it out. If it doen't do it anymore it's your switch...Could be other things though

My front sprocket cover is out and it can touch the metal gaurd around the chain and sprocket. But that is not the problem itself maybe part of the problem. I wanted to know if that is the case for other people or there is a short causing that I should look for that.

By the way, when the bike started to shut off every time I hit the throttle, hard front break helped. So I believe something is loose.
I will check the stand too.

shouldn't be a part of the problem unless your idle knob/shaft itself is made of metal, but I think they're sleeved in plastic...or should be

Sounds like the switch, especially if it's happening when you hit the throttle. Try what I said in my 2nd post, shouldn't take more than 10 minutes...

One other thing you could try first is going for a little ride and putting pressure upward on the kickstand itself when hiiting the throttle. It could be loose and lowering just enough to trigger the switch when you accelerate...ok, I think I'm done

Thanks I will. But can you be kind to check and see if your bike suts off when ground the knob?

I would if I wasn't 100% sure that my plastic sleeve and plastic knob wouldn't cause a short...I'm not home right now but if no one else helps you before then I'll check when I get home :thumbsup:

It sounds like the cable on your idle control has chaffed its way through a positive wire , the closest wire just so happens to be the kickstand switch hot wire.

Nothing on the way of the cable. I think I just cover the knob to prevent from touching.
BTW, now that Im there and the bike has 16k, I should do the valves. I hope we have a how to.

This is one of the wierder things I have ever heard. You are telling us, that when yourike is just sitting there idling, and you move the plastic nob for the ide control, at touch metal with the plastic nob the bike shuts off, you do know that plastic does not conduct electricity right theoretically this would not be possible, very strange, take a video so we can ponder more.

The idle control knob is not connected to the electric harness or any electrical component. Just makes a screw turn.
Even if any metalic part of it would touch ground shouldnt harm at all, unless the throttle bodies for some reason do not accept to be grounded, which test I´ve never done.

The kickstand switch goes to ground when it is up I think (that way you can't just unhook it) so I don't think that is the problem. But I am sure there is a hot wire of some kind touching some part of the throttle bodies and then you complete the ground when the adjusting screw which is metal knob with metal spring inside plastic tube touches metal
