Does the headlight mount in front or behind the mount on the gen3. If you can understand my question. I'm just rying to make sure the bike is back together the correct way. However, I can't find if the mount bolts up directly behind the mount on the bike or in front of the mount meant for the head light bolt to the frame.

just updating the picture. I'm thinking behind however, anyone have any other ideas. Or could anyone who still has a 3rd gen take a look at there bike

Well, it would go in front of that mounting bracket. Your problem is that you don't mount the light onto that bracket first. Attach the headlight assembly into the nose cowling first, and then put the nose cowling on the bike and bolt it to that bracket.
