I just did the procedure!
My Engine is 17xxx and the rotor spacer is already 1.2.
I keep 0.6 very tight clearance on other side.
Unless the washers had a different material, And I understand that have, for me it is lost of time and money.
I dont know If was just dirt or If Really had Another material.

What did the parts for this repair cost? Did you buy all the parts listed in the bulletin? My 04's vin is 13 thousand somthing and I have 17,000 miles on mine and am thinking about doing this over the winter.

I spend about U$ 100,00 in parts...
I mentioned washers, but the correct is SPACERS.
If you read the PDF, the major reason to do this is because the change of material of the spacers... Anyway is done... but the best is buy a 05 generator, otherwise, hard to find

Bloo, once you have the generator assembled using the new spacers and the 1.2mm shims you need to check out the gap with a feeler gauge between the shim and the snap ring on the gear side to be between 0.6 and 0.9mm.
If the gap is outside this tolerance you will need to remove the snap ring again and change the 1.2mm washer for one of the others of the set which will bring the gap inside tolerance. Having said that you won't know if you really need other shim than the 1.2mm until you measure the gap. Just in case you need any of them better get them all otherwise you risk having the bike grounded for a few days until the new shim you need arrives.
Remember that a snap ring you remove goes to the trash bin. Always install a new one.
This whole proceduce is described in pages 14 and 15 of the bulletin.

I also applied graphite grease instead of oil between the washers and spacers...

for me its a rattle noise, can hear it on short burst of the throttle in neutral
I have the same rattle in neutral when I rev it a little. I just went out and checked after reading over the entire thread and my engine number is 02XXXX which is after the 018111 production number eligible for the repair. Could I possibly have the same issue even if is it a "post-issue" number? Or am I looking for something else causing the noise?
