Hey guys,
Just picked up a Gen1 zx10r. Love it!

But I noticed on my ignition I have the ability to turn my key all the way to the right which points to a "P".

Is that for parking lights? My gsxr had parking lights, but to access those I'd turn the key all the way to the left...

When I turn the zx to the right nothing happens.

Is something supposed to happen? Lights turn on?

The precious owner has a gorilla alarm on it( which I'm going to remove) , and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.

Yes, the P is the "Park" position. It is suposed to turn on the city light, taillight, and license plate light.

Crappp... Looks like I have to figure out what happened to that circuit.

The tiny city lights thing work when engine is running along with the tail light, but they turn off when I switch to the P.

If anyone know what circuit may have been broken by the alarm system feel free to let me know.

Looks like I'll be tracing it all out soon!

The problem is the ignition switch itself. If the parking mode doesn't work and it all does normally, then the ignition switch would need replacing. There's not much else to it. You are pushing the key down to get into the park mode, correct? You should not just be able to turn into that position on the switch. It's locked out and you have to push and turn it there. If you don't have to push it down first, then that means the switch is bad also.

Haha! I'm a bit embarrassed to say. But the 2 incandescent bulbs at the front were both burnt out

I was checking up front so it looked like it was all off. Haha

:mrgreen: Well, live and learn! I feel a bit inadequate myself for not starting off with "check all your bulbs and fuses". Now I know to do that in the future! :lol: :badteeth:
