A newbie here and I have said Hi in the introduction thread.

I have a Gen 5 10r and I would like to upgrade the rear shock, Ohlins,Bitubo etc.


I have been told that a Gen 4 shock will fit ini a Gen 5 as long as you use the Gen 4 linkage.

Has anyone done this or can confirm that this is the case?

Gen4 and Gen5 shocks are different lengths so it's not a good straight swap.

If you buy a aftermarket shock from a gen 4, it will fit a Gen 5. But like lanister stated, you will need to change the shock length to suit. All aftermarket shocks will have a length adjustment on them.

I'm currently playing with different components and am running my Gen4 swing arm with Gen4 shock and Gen5 links and Gen5 dogbone. It's only temporary until I can swap in my Gen5 shock.

All the Gen4/5 parts interchange though a Gen5 has a higher rear ride height (due to the revised links and dogbone) than a Gen4 out of the box.

If you simply swap in a Gen4 shock body then your rear ride height will increase because the Gen4 shock is longer.

I have a Gen 4 Ohlins mint, condition in the for sale section. Has ride height adjustment or could be shimmed.
